In this role, the successful candidate will develop purchasing and logistics related strategies, plans and materials. Duties include negotiating contracts, purchasing supplies, sampling raw materials, traveling to conduct supplier visits and audits, managing the inventory replenishment processes, and ensuring a high level of overall inventory accuracy.
The successful candidate must have five years experience in a purchasing or buying role in a manufacturing environment. Experience purchasing adhesives, rubber, polymers and laminates desired. Bachelor’s degree in business or related technical field preferred.

Negotiates purchasing contracts.

Purchases supplies.

Samples new materials from suppliers.

Travels overnight, as needed, to conduct supplier visits and audits.

Leads and implements sound material replenishment systems.

Ensures a high level of overall inventory accuracy.

Identifies opportunities for material cost reductions.
-
Supports the resolution of supplier related quality issues.

Supports the development of new products and processes and improvements.

Leads supply chain related projects.

Maintains approved supplier database.
-
Maintains development part number database and assigns numbers accordingly.

Participates in and leads kaizen events.
- Develops best practice and standard work for all activities.
Requirements

Knowledge of common accounting and inventory practices.

Ability to negotiate purchasing contracts for raw materials.

Skilled at purchasing adhesives (solvent based, water based, etc.).
-
Skilled at purchasing laminates (paper, vinyl, polypropylene).

Effective communication skills both orally and in writing.

Excellent problem solving skills.

Superior organization skills.

Strong computer skills: MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).

Ability to write routine correspondences and reports.

Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others, both internal and external.

Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and engineering specifications.

Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Ability to utilize computer software for documentation and presentation.

Ability to manage cost and excellent math skills are a must.
